Happy Tuesday, everyone! How much snow did you have last weekend? Up in Baltimore we only had an inch, so thankfully driving to our wedding on Saturday wasn't too difficult!
In contrast to the crazy cold we've been having on the East Coast, today on the blog I'm sharing an intimate October wedding at the Hendry House in Arlington, Virginia! Our couple, Ally and Derek, got to enjoy some of the best outdoor wedding day weather we could have ever hoped for, as the temperatures were in the 60s and the sun was out all day long.
You may have seen my blog post last summer with Ally and Derek's Engagement Photos, taken in Richmond, Virginia by ksant photography! Ally and Derek are both professional classical musicians, and they had a live cello duo for their outdoor ceremony and then a jazz trio (bass, drumset, and keyboard) for their lunchtime reception! We worked with their caterer, Lebanese Taverna, to set up outdoor food stations, surrounded by a mix of high and low tables to encourage guests to mix and mingle.
One of my favorite surprises of this particular wedding was that Ally had two different wedding dresses: one for the first look, ceremony, and cocktail hour, and then a second, longer, chiffon gown for the reception and more portraits! No one (not even Derek!) knew that she had two dresses, so it was such a fun surprise! I loved Ally's style so much because it was classic, elegant, and simple, while still modern. And, (impressive fact!) she styled her own hair!
I hope you enjoy these amazing photos and especially portraits by Katie Santmyer! Be sure to scroll all the way down for the full vendor list, and to see the dessert mini-pies. Yes, they had pies from Pie Sisters in Georgetown (Washington, DC) for dessert, and they were delicious.
